PA Casino Apps

Mobile apps are available at all online casinos for free download. Due to gambling restrictions, Android PA casino apps will not be available for download in the App Store. Users may, however, download directly from the casino’s website by enabling downloads from ‘unknown sources.’

Certain iOS-based casino apps can be found in the Apple Store for download. If an app cannot be found via search, visit the casino’s website for direct download.

Mobile users may use PA casino apps anywhere within the boundaries of the state. To ensure users are playing from within Pennsylvania, geo-location technology will be required to be downloaded. Note that playing near the state lines can sometimes result in apps not working due to strict regulations.

Browser-based versions of casinos can also be accessed by simply visiting the casino’s website and logging in. Most sites have mobile versions of the casino for optimized mobile-based play.

The following casinos currently give users the opportunity to play via mobile app in PA:

PA Online Poker

PA online poker has been the slowest of all the online gambling types to develop in the state. The first poker site to become available in PA was PokerStars, launching alongside Mount Airy Casino in November of 2019. PokerStars is currently the only running PA online poker site but six other casinos have received conditional approval:

  • SugarHouse Casino
  • Valley Forge Casino Resort
  • Harrah’s Casino Philadelphia
  • Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course
  • Parx Casino
  • Sands Bethlehem Casino Resort

888poker, Partypoker and WSOP.com are the most likely candidates to enter the PA market in 2020. All three brands have ties to casinos and parent companies in the state. While none of the brands have expressly disclosed their launch in PA, hints have been dropped by each.

WSOP.com is part of Caesars Entertainment, which also owns Harrah’s Casino Philadelphia. Expect WSOP.com to team up with Harrah’s for an online poker platform similar to WSOP.com NJ. Valley Forge Casino has been associated with PartyPoker since 2015, which should result in a pairing later this year.

PA Lottery

The PA iLottery allows Pennsylvania-based players the chance to play a number of lottery games online. The iLottery was launched in September of 2018 and is available on both a browser-based platform and via mobile app. To play the lottery you must be over the age of 18 and located within the state boundaries of Pennsylvania.

Lottery games available at the iLottery include instant games, keno, fast play, and draws. Instant games such as scratch cards payout immediately and are available 24/7. Draws pool into many of the top lotteries in the country including the Mega Millions, PowerBall and Cash4Life.

A sign-up bonus is available at the PA Lottery giving new users $5 in free play, plus up to $250 in bonus cash. To take advantage of the bonus a user must sign up for a PA Lottery Account and make a qualifying deposit. A PA Lottery bonus code is required to be entered during a deposit to activate the bonus.

Online Casino PA Legalization

Pennsylvania was the fourth state to legalize online gambling after New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada. Pennsylvania online casinos were given the green light when Governor Tom Wolf signed the HB 271 online gambling bill in 2017. Soon after, PASPA was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, legalizing sports betting in PA as well. It wasn’t until July of 2019, however, that the first online casino launched in PA.

To operate legally, online casinos need to be licensed. At the moment licenses are only provided to land-based casinos and racetracks. Just like NJ online casinos, brands looking to enter the PA market must partner with local casinos to get a license.

The PGCB has conditionally approved the following casinos for online slots, online table games, and online poker:

  • Harrah’s Philadelphia
  • Hollywood Casino
  • Mount Airy Casino
  • Parx Casino
  • Rivers Philadelphia Casino
  • Hollywood Casino
  • PokerStars Casino
  • Valley Forge Casino

Four other casinos have opted for only online table games and slots licenses, without online poker:

  • Presque Isle Downs
  • Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia (opening in December of 2020)
  • Wind Creek
  • Mohegan Sun Pocono
